INFLOW AND INFILTRATION

The Public Works Department would like to ask everyone’s help in identifying areas where rainwater could enter our sewer system. The sewer clean out pipes (white pipe found in many yards) should have a cap or plugin it. This is to prevent groundwater from going down the sewer system. If you find your pipe is not capped or plugged please contact us at (336) 449-7188. We will also be glad to investigate any other areas that may be a concern for inflow.

HOLIDAY GARBAGE COLLECTION SCHEDULE

GRASS and LEAVES COLLECTION

Automated Leaf Truck

REMEMBER: Residents should simply rake, place or blow their leaves/grass clippings near the curb for collection. Please keep materials to be collected within 10 feet of the curb, as the truck does have a limited reach. Please keep brush and other items separate from leaves and grass trimmings to avoid damage and costly repairs to our new truck.

  • Do not place yard waste in bags, containers, or your trash cart! Place them loosely at the curb.

  • Create separate piles at the curb for grass clippings and sticks/limbs.

  • Do not place yard waste piles near cars, mailboxes, utility poles, storm drains, in the road or on the sidewalks.

FATS - OILS - GREASE

The Public Works Dept. would like to thank everyone for participating in our Fats, Oils & Grease Program. We ask that everyone continue to use care to keep fats, oils and grease out of the collection system. Remember to place cooking grease and oils into containers to be discarded. Please do not pour these down drain lines. This will lead to problems in homeowners plumbing and the Town’s sewer system.
