BOARDS and COMMISSIONS

The Town of Gibsonville's Board of Aldermen invites you to take a more active role in municipal affairs by applying for appointment to one of the Town's advisory boards, commissions, and committees. 

The Board of Aldermen appoints qualified Town residents to these boards and commissions. Applicants are encouraged to attend a meeting of the board or commission in which they are interested to gain a greater awareness of its duties and responsibilities.

Gibsonville Boards + Committees Include:

  • Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Board - governs the management of the ABC store.

  • Board of Adjustment - consider appeals concerning zoning variations (Planning Board serves as Board of Adjustment). Meets as needed.

  • Planning Board - advises Board of Aldermen on planning, zoning and subdivision matters. Meets 3rd Thursday, 7:00 pm in Town Hall.

  • Guilford County Joint Historic Preservation Commission - applications for the Guilford County Joint Historic Preservation Commission are completed through the Guilford County Clerk’s office.

  • Downtown Advisory Board [Download Application Form]
    The Downtown Advisory Board supports the continued growth, vitality, and preservation of Downtown Gibsonville. The Board works in alignment with NC Main Street principles and focuses on strengthening downtown through strategic planning, community engagement, and business support. The Downtown Advisory Board includes the following subcommittees:

    • Design Committee
      Focuses on the physical appearance of downtown, including beautification, public spaces, and preservation of historic character.

    • Promotion Committee
      Develops events, marketing efforts, and campaigns that attract visitors, support local businesses, and build community pride.

    • Organization Committee
      Strengthens partnerships, volunteer engagement, fundraising efforts, and overall downtown program sustainability.

    • Economic Vitality Committee
      Supports business recruitment, retention, expansion, and strategies that encourage long-term economic growth in downtown.

Former Committees (Dissolved)

The following committees were dissolved by the Board of Aldermen in February 2026. Information and past meeting minutes remain available for reference.

  • Downtown Design Committee [DISSOLVED] - considers applications for the Façade Improvement Program. Meets 1st Tuesday, 7:00 pm in Town Hall if an application has been submitted.

  • Development Advisory Committee [DISSOLVED] - advises Board of Aldermen on matters related to economic development (recruitment of new businesses, support of existing businesses, and downtown revitalization). Meets 3rd Wednesday, 2:00 pm in Town Hall.
